Being part of the paranormal field of study and research isn't all serious and somber. Humor is actually one of the most important components to this type of work, as it helps diffuse intense situations.  Last night, while talking with a friend about a Reading I did, this was proven out.

Our discussion had been quite intense and serious for some time. My friend took a break, and upon returning, this little diffuser took place:

My friend: LOL, want more proof your psychic?

Me: sure I'm always willing to receive validation that I'm not nuts

My friend: Oh yer nuts all right, just organized in your nuttiness. like a paranormal snickers bar =-p

I laughed out loud at that.  It was a comment made in jest, and it beautifully diffused what had been, until then, a very intense situation. It was a perfect example of how important humor is when you're working in this field; personally, I think if we were serious and somber all the time, we'd eventually go crazy.

So, when you're out investigating and things are getting really intense, try to find your inner "paranormal snickers bar" to help diffuse the tension. It's not disrespectful, and you'll feel a whole lot better for having released it.
